![]() The Property of a Lady ~ by DescentIt is very rare an opportunity comes along like this. We are delighted to be able to offer a large selection of original Gabriel Argy-Rousseau and Amalric Walter pendants with excellent provenance and close associations to the key players in the early French glass industry. This breathtaking collection of pendants belonged to the wife of a major French glassmaker. This glassmaker was a long time senior designer and glass maker for Emile Galle and later successfully established his own glass business. Each of the exceptionally rare G. Argy-Rousseau pendants, were gifts in the mid 1920s from husband to wife, some of them were purchased in Genoa -a favourite place for the husband to go on painting trips. There are also two equally rare Amalric Walter pendants, these were personal gifts from Amalric Walter himself to the wife. Amalric and her husband worked closely on many projects. These pendants were left to a direct decendant, who has entrusted them with us to sell. Each comes with a 'Certificate of Authenticity' signed by the decendant telling of their origin and briefly detailing her ancestors key role in Glassmaking. The majority of the proceeds of this sale will go towards financing a exhibition in Nancy France of the glassmaker's work, scheduled for November 2010. It is unlikely that such a superb collection will appear on the market again. Additionally these pendants were featured in a recent edition of Antiquexplorer Magazine ![]() ChamelonAmalric Walter Cameleon pendant, un-strung, c1923.
